What's New in
Research
Another new exotic pest has
invaded, this time in Hawaii, called the Erythrina Gall Wasp (EGW), found in
2005.
The tiny wasp lays eggs in tender
leaves and stems of several species of Erythrina also called tigers claw, Indian
coral tree, and wiliwili-haole, a common landscape tree. (Full Story)
Tree Fact:
The deepest penetrating tree root in
the world - in Ohrigstad, Transvaal, South Africa, where a ficus tree was
recorded to have roots that went down 120 meters or 393.7
feet.
Around the World:
Arborjet
Returns to the United Arab Emirates to help save the Date Palms from
the Red Palm Weevil.
There has been no other success
in the eradication of this pest and Arborjet is proud to participate in this
promising trial
