Emerald Ash Borer Awareness Campaigns

The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is an invasive beetle that attacks ash trees. This green metallic wood boring beetle was found in Detroit, Michigan in 2002. Emerald Ash Borer was accidentally imported from Asia and has killed tens of millions of ash trees in Michigan, and tens of millions more have been lost in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Ontario, Pennsylvania, Quebec, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Billions of ash trees across the United States are at risk.

There are a number of organizations helping to stop the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer and other pests like the Asian Longhorned Beetle. Moving firewood is a major cause for the spread of invasive insects and diseases that threaten forests across the United States and Canada. You can help by buying and burning firewood locally, and by sharing these videos to promote awareness.
