In May 2009, Milwaukee launched a new effort to save the ash trees in the city.  Forestry crews injected half of the city’s 36,000 ash trees with Arborjet.  Mayor Tom Barrett showed off how the Arborjet Hydraulic device delivers Arborjet chemical treatments to the vascular system of the trees.

Mayor Barrett says, “It’s much more expensive than $40 to cut down these trees. We’d rather spend the $40 and make sure that the tree lives.”

In May 2009, emerald ash borer had not been found in Milwaukee, but it had been found in nearby counties.  Milwaukee anticipated the potential losses the city would face, so they started pro-active treatments with Arborjet.  In August 2009, the emerald ash borer was found in Milwaukee County and the city’s action plan has given them a head start on protecting ash trees from the emerald ash borer.

It’s true that the Emerald Ash Borer is a major pest in the United States receiving alot of attention. When city ash trees are left untreated, EAB creates negative financial, aesthetic, and environmental impacts.
Oak wilt is also a major pest and propiconazole is a good choice. Here is a link to a research study showing how effective propiconazole is on Oak Wilt. Propiconazole for Oak Wilt Control
